Question:

Does changing out the 3rd cat on my J-series V6 TL/Accord/etc cause an engine light?

Answer:

NO.

We get asked fairly often, and the answer is no. V6 powered Honda and Acura cars such as those listed below don't have a sensor monitoring the 3rd car and therefor no engine light will come on if that cat is removed.

J30A, J32A, J35A, J35Z, J35Y, J37A engines in the following vehicles.

Acura MDX 2007-present

Acura RDX, 2013-18, 2nd gen with the V6

Acura RL/RLX, 2005-present

Acura TL/TLX V6, 2004-19

Acura TSX V6, 2010-14

Honda Accord V6, 2003-17

Honda Odyssey, 2002-19

Honda Pilot, All of them

Honda Ridgeline, All of them
