The RV6 V3 long-tube J-pipe design is the result of months of hard work and testing. Four hours of dyno time was spent testing everything from piping sizes to tube length in order to tune this J-pipe for maximum gains. Over 10 revisions were made to the initial prototype in order to equalize runner length and most importantly maximize ground clearance. By tucking one pipe behind another RV6 was able to do this with minimal cutting to the splash guard. By completely removing the 3rd cat, runner length was increased in order to take advantage of exhaust gas scavenging.

Dyno tests were performed on an unmodified 2005 Base TL 5AT with a J32A3 engine on a Mustang dyno. Higher gains are to be expected with the manual transmission model cars.

The gains with the RV6 j-pipes typically range from 10-15 hp and 7-10 lb-ft of torque.

Customer Questions

Does the check engine light go on because of the cat delete and if so how do you get rid of it?

No, this pipe does not cause a CEL/MIL. The 3rd cat that is removed does not have a sensor monitoring it.

I want to do from the header all the way back . Do you have a header that fits to the j-pipe, then exhaust?

Your vehicle is not be equipped with traditional "headers." Before going further, we would suggest reading this article regarding the exhaust layout on your J-Series Engine equipped vehicle: An Outline Of The Exhaust Layout On J-Series Honda V6 Engines

We can provide a complete set of exhaust components from the engine to the tips, and will be happy to consult you on the needed items.

So I would be able to take my stock j pipe and cat off and replace it

Yes, this pipe is a direct replacement for the stock J-pipe and 3rd cat.

do you have any downpipes that retain the 3rd cat? i live in cali and i was looking for a downpipe that retains the 3rd cat so i can replace the cat with a test pipe with the heatshield

Yes! Both the ATLP V2 and the EndlessRPM J-pipes retain the stock 3rd converter.

Will this fail me for smog? Since the 3rd cat is deleted?

This part is not road legal, however the ability to pass an emissions test is mostly dependant on your local testing methods. We can't really answer this question.

Since this also replaces the 3rd cat would this make it not road legal? If so how does this compare to the ALTP V2-R? power wise..

Correct, this is not a road legal part. Compared to the ATLP V2-R you would see the power band lower in the RPM range with the RV6 V3. It would make more power under 4000 rpm. The ATLP V2-R makes more power right around 4000 rpm, and the ATLP V2 makes more power above 4000 rpm.

Q:How much horsepower and torque can i expect from this item?

You would see gains of up to 13 hp or so, mostly to be had in the lower RPM ranges. Mid-length primary-tube j-pipes such as the XLR8 V2 or ATLP V2-R would gain the most power in middle-RPM ranges. The Short tube ATLP V2 would give the best high-RPM max power gains.

Q:Is this a bolt on part? Any welding required?
A:Yes, this part is 100% bolt on, no welding or fabrication is required.
Q:Does it come with an RV6 sticker?
A:Yes, RV6 normally includes some merch with their parts.

The material and quality is definitely good for the price! Love the bolt on installment. HOWEVER, it is not a direct replacement FIT for your stock J pipe. I had to take it to the muffler shop to weld/bend the middle insert that bolts on to the mount of the car that keeps the jpipe intact. It was a little disappointment but it is what it is.
