For Fun: Single Serving Egg Nog!

Egg Nog. It is delicious. But the stuff in stores is goopy and laced with chemicals, and making an entire batch is a bunch of work. Here is our method for getting eggy-toasty just a couple drinks at a time on Christmas Eve.

You'll need:

  • 2 eggs
  • 4 tablespoons of powdered sugar
  • half and half, or whipping creme and whole milk mixed up
  • whiskey, brandy, aged rum
  • a whisk and a couple bowls
  • nutmeg

  1. Crack two eggs, separate yolk from white.
  2. Add 3-4 tablespoons of confectioner's (powdered) sugar while whisking.
  3. Gradually add 1.5 oz of whiskey, 1 oz of brandy, and .5 oz spiced or aged rum (or all of one or whatever you choose...but for Pete's sake don't get behind the wheel after you drink).
  4. Add creme or half-n-half, about 3 oz.
  5. Now, with the egg whites, beat to firm peaks. (That means, whip the crap outta those suckers until they are so frothy they stand up).
  6. Fold about 1/3 of the whites into the yolk mixture.
  7. Spoon and serve with a dash of nutmeg on top.
You'll make enough to get that nice warm feeling all in-ya! You can share it with a friend if you like, or make two batches, or be greedy and drink it all on your own.
