This is a USED Genuine Acura ECM for use in converting an 04-06 TSX to use a programmable Hondata Flashpro tuning tool. ECUs are for Automatic transmission models and may be used in all 2004-06 TSXs without modification* **. ECUs may have visual blemishes but are perfectly functional. Heeltoe will guarantee the function of all used ECUs purchased under this SKU for 90 days after receipt of shipment.

*Note that the use of an automatic ECU in a manual TSX will eliminate the function of the reverse-lockout solenoid, which is a part that keeps the shifter out of the reverse gate when you are moving forward. It is possible to move the shifter into the reverse gate while driving, so care should be taken when shifting into 5th or 6th gear. Heeltoe has tested this product in the HTSpecTSX and found no harm to come from moving the shifter into the reverse gate while driving, and it is not possible to accidentally engage reverse.

** Also note, in order to communicate with an 2007-08 ECU from a 2004-05 OBD port, Hondata's supplementary CAN harness must be installed, which is sold alongside new Hondata Flashpro units.

Q:

Is the reverse lockout the ONLY thing that will be affected by using this in a 6MT TSX? Will my reverse lights still work? How hard is it to actually damage reverse gear if one were to accidentally hit reverse gear while driving?

A:

Yes it is. We are using an automatic ECU in our 2004 6MT #HTSpecTSX and this is the only side effect. Everything else is perfectly normal EXCEPT you CAN move the lever into the reverse detent if you are moving forward. That is the ONLY difference.

And we have actually done that while driving and it is a little noisy but you would have to use extreme force and intention in order to actually engage reverse while moving forward. It is not something that you will hit on accident. After having done it, we did rebuild the trans later for an unrelated matter and could see wear on the reverse gear teeth, but nothing that impacts use or life at all.

We consider this caveat a non-concern a non-issue and is well worth the cost savings.

Q:

is this a plug and play ecu or do you need to go to the dealer and get it programmed?

A:

These ECUs will require a CAN adapter and the ECU will need to be learned to the car at a dealer.

Q:

I'm not clear on one of the topic, but isn't OEM a genuine factory part? So is this part made from Honda/Acura factory OEM?

A:

Q:Will you have any manual ecu?
A:

We typically supply automatic trans ECUs for their greater availability and lower cost.
