The USDM dipstick on a K-series motor is Orange. We believe this is in keeping with USA government and/or customer demand for service points in the engine bay to be clearly visible at a glance. In Japan, the dipstick is a more tasteful black color.
The most common dipstick available is from a DC5 Integra Type-R which has a K20 engine. However the TSX has a K24 engine, which has a taller deck height (the actual engine block is taller). This means using a JDM K20 dipstick will be too short for an accurate oil reading in the TSX' K24.
Sourcing a dipstick from a CL7 Accord EuroR is a deceivingly convenient alternative. This car comes with a K20 as well, but the dipstick is about 1/2" longer than the DC5 one! While not exactly the same length as a USDM K24 dipstick, it is close enough for us to sell as a K24 dipstick. Still, it is best to acknowledge the difference in lengths and mark the "K24" JDM dipstick with a new oil-fill location as you feel the need.
We are working on sourcing a more reliable alternative, in the meantime we have sold quite a lot of "K24" JDM dipsticks over the last few years with no problems at all!
